Day 6: Petra
Petra is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a Unesco World Heritage Site. There is no doubt that it is the most valuable treasure and the greatest tourist attraction in Jordan.
It is a unique city that was carved into a sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, turning it into an important junction for silk, spice, and other trade routes that linked China, India, and Southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece, and Rome. To explore the spectacular treasures of Petra (also called The Red-Rose city half as old as time), enter through the impressive narrow gorge (Siq), that leads marvelously to the magical monument, where you can glimpse the Treasury, continue on to the street of facades, the Royal Tombs, the Cardo, temples, churches, museums, etc.
